Before exploding, the profiles show nice dashed linetypes. When exploded to blocks, the linetypes change how they are displayed. The polylines within the blocks default to 'disabled', so you have to explode all the blocks right down to lines/polylines then Qselect and change to enabled, or if you are at line level, rejoin them together and change to enabled.
Basically, when something is exploded, C3D seems to change the polyline setting within the blocks to 'disabled'. Which is a real pain from a drawing perspective. Is there a way round this, or is this another much-vaunted Autodesk 'feature'? Cheers, Kevin.
I'd say it's not really to do with linetype or annotative scaling. When we get down to the component polylines that make up the block (that was exploded from a civil 3D profile, for example), the linetype generation is always 'disabled'. So no matter what the linetype scale is, where the vertices are close together the linetype resets at each node rather than running through. The result is that when exploded, the C3D profile with a nice dashed line becomes a polyline made up of small runs of dashed lines rather than replicating the C3D profile. It's an issue because we have to tidy this up in CAD with virtually every export we do from C3D and I'm getting asked why we have to do this. 2or 3 exports per drawing, 10-100's of drawings per job, 7 or 8 jobs at any time. We're trying to reduce the amount of cad work it takes to make C3D outputs acceptable for drawings. The other issue is the 3D face used for background masking of texts.
Perhaps Autodesk could spend more time developing cloud services and Infraworks instead of giving us a simple 'default polyline mode' toggle!;).
