Impossible though it is to come up with a finite list, here are 15 of some South Africa s most internationally famous visual artists including Cecil Skotnes, Irma rare soul concerts on dvd, reggae dvds, funk dvds to trade, swap, alicia keys, bobby caldwell, chaka khan, erykah badu, gino vannelli,.

Dwele • • • Singer/songwriter Dwele (pronounced dweh-lay) has carved out a niche for himself in the contemporary soul game as a smooth jazz-minded crooner of introspective and innovative groove. The Detroit-based artist first made a name for himself with a demo he made in his bedroom which led to one of the hippest hip hop soul collaborations of all-time (Slum Village's 'Tainted'), a major label deal. Subsequent work followed with artists that stretch from Roy Ayers (in concert), Boney James (on record) and Earth Wind & Fire (on the Grammy-nominated remake for “That’s The Way of the World”), to rappers Common’s Grammy nominated 'The People,' and Kanye West’s Grammy-winning single 'Flashing Lights.' On his own, he contributed the single gems 'Find a Way' and 'I Think I Luv U' to the canon of neo soul classics, but is best loved as that rare maker of fine albums. His third and latest album Sketches of a Man finds Dwele on the independent RT Music Group (the domain of his managers Ron and Tim, distributed by KOCH), meticulously baking another masterpiece of chocolate soul genius. 'With my first album, Subject, I had about three years worth of material to work with between 2000 and 2003,' he begins.

'But with the next one, Some Kinda (2005), I didn't take as much time as I wanted because I was in and out of the studio touring on the road, so I didn't have as many songs to choose from. This time, I slowed down and marinated in the creative process again.' Slum Village • • When Slum Village emerged in the late 1990s, the highly regarded Detroit trio of T3, Baatin and Jay Dee made a startling admission: their group was a liquid association with members coming and going during the group's evolution. True to their word, Slum Village has already gone through a number of line-up changes. Rapper-producer Jay Dee left after the group's first national album, 2000's Fantastic, vol. 2 (Barak) and rhymer Elzhi was added to the mix for 2002's Trinity: Past, Present and Future (Barak/Capitol).

Now, with the release of Slum Village's new and best album, the stunningly impressive Detroit Deli (Barak/Capitol), the group consists of just T3 and Elzhi. Throughout the changes, Slum Village's musical mission has remained constant: to deliver soul-stirring sonics that represent Detroit to the fullest. That vision is fully realized on Detroit Deli. Throughout the sensational 15-cut collection, T3 and Elzhi give listeners an intimate look at life in The D, from where they shop, hang with friends and eat to the type of cars they drive (check 'Zoom') and what clothes they wear. Slum Village represents the Midwest's funk heritage on the inspirational 'Do You,' which was produced by Jay Dee, and teams with Chicago's Kanye West on lead single 'Selfish,' a sly, piano-driven song where T3, Elzhi and West rap about their desire to have a monopoly with women.

They then team with Ol' Dirty Bastard on the riotous 'Dirty' about having to battle for a woman and deliver a Player's Hand Guide of sorts on the sensuous 'Count The Ways,' Both produced by BR. Even though Slum Village excels at making this type of lighthearted music, they show on Detroit Deli that they also hit hard with more serious subject matter. On the moving, guitar-driven 'Keep Holding On,' they rap about people not losing faith in their lives, while on the stirring 'Old Girl/Shining Star,' T3 and Elzhi send a open letter of hope and support to single mothers working hard to survive.

'The inspiration came from my boy's niece who has a gang of kids and is out here struggling,' Elzhi says. 'She's stringing her kids around on the bus, just to get. By me just looking at that, I'm like, 'I need to write a song because I know she's not the only one going through it.' Slum Village has never touched on ladies like that and everybody is calling girls hoes and Bs, dissing these ladies, so we wanted to touch the ladies in a different way.' The group also takes a different route on 'The Reunion.' Pehli Nazar Mein Slow Version Mp3 Download here.

Jay Dee joins T3 and Elzhi on the insightful cut, which offers three different takes on the group's status. 'It's like you're going through three state of minds at one time kind of in reverse,' T3 says. 'What we're trying to say is that we wish we were together, we might be together and then we're not together at all. We're trying to give you all the aspects of how people are coming at us, the type of stuff we're dealing with and kind of give you a glimpse of the stuff we're dealing with in the group.' Indeed, songs such as 'Keep Holding On,' 'Old Girl/Shining Star' and 'The Reunion' signal Slum Village's evolution; they mark the first time the group has let listeners in on their personal feelings. 'I don't think people really know us and we never really touched on our emotions like that,' T3 says.

'We wanted to bring some realness, besides just the soul music. Elzhi, as a guy that saw Slum Village on the outside, he brought it to my attention that we never touched on serious topics and that we should try to touch on them more. I was with that and I have a lot to say, so why not?' Detroit Deli also stands as Slum Village's most musically rich album to date. BR Gunna producers Black and Young RJ, both 20 years old, handled the majority of the beats, while Kanye West produced 'Selfish,' Jay Dee handled 'Do You' and T3 along with young RJ produced 'Closer' and 'Count The Ways.' The beats are as divergent as the album's subject matter, ranging from soulful to futuristic, but they always remain powerful and innovative.

The same can be said for Slum Village's storied career. After releasing Fantastic Volume One independently, Slum Village became one of hip-hop's hottest groups. While working on Fantastic, vol. 2, they were joined in the studio by such luminaries as D'Angelo, Busta Rhymes, Kurupt, Pete Rock and A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip, among others.

The resulting album became an underground classic and Slum Village was seen as the second coming of the Native Tongues (A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, De La Soul) by member Q-Tip, as well as fans and journalists alike. Jay Dee left the group after Fantastic, vol. 2 in order to work on his solo career, but Slum Village pressed on, releasing in 2002 the Dirty District mix tape and later that year its third album and first with new member Elzhi, Trinity. Many fans looked at rapper-producer Jay Dee as the group's backbone, but Trinity proved that Slum Village could provide without its sonic architect, as that album's single 'Tainted' became the group's biggest hit. 'We've always stuck to our guns,' T3 says.

We always just did what we did and when you do what you do, eventually somebody's going to have to give you your respect for having the courage to do what you do.' With Detroit Deli, Slum Village earns the respect it craves and deserves.

Most people in urban America consider the SAT as an intellectual exercise inherently—if not intentionally—biased in a way that does not favor the skill sets of kids from oppressed minorities and dilapidated zip codes. It seems almost natural for a newcomer to edit out the squeaky clean parts of their resume to fit into this mindset of us against the world. But Pennjamin does not seem particularly pressed to play down the upper middle class upbringing and frequently mentions his mother’s central role in his life.

' We all have different paths to walk in life, just because mine has a picket fence along it doesn't mean I don't experience heart break, or struggle to achieve my goals and it doesn't mean i don't know how it feels to be broke. I struggle to take care of my daughter and worry about her having the best in life. A lot of people have these problems and me rapping is the way to tell my story' After first gaining notoriety with the group Project: Fr3sh he burst onto the scene as the pretty boy of the group. At 24 Pennjamin Bannekar is still growing into his looks, with deep-set eyes that make his face somehow boyish. With features almost too large for his slim shoulders, it heightens his youthful qualities. When asked about leaving the group Project: Fr3sh to start his solo career he replied “I respect what Project: Fr3sh accomplished together and they put me in this position,” he says.

“But as a solo artist, I have to do my own thing. I’m not sure if that’s gonna be a struggle in the next couple months, to set myself apart. I don’t want it to feel like I'm being disrespectful either, but I know it’s a bridge that I’m going to have to cross as far as becoming my own person.”. Is the charismatic 20 year old songstress whose name is quickly popping up in different circles around the Midwest.

Her infectious smile is nothing compared to the reaction that people have upon hearing her sing. Her smooth and sultry sound is countered well by her quirky and energetic live performances with her band, The Secret Garden. She began performing in her early years through church and elementary school choirs and started writing original music at the age of ten. Since then, she has built quite a repertoire of an original jazz/ neo-soul/ electronic-hip hop sound.

Growing up in an artistic household in the inner city of Milwaukee, Lili learned to channel her emotions and combine her influences to create her individual sound. She graduated from Milwaukee High School of the Arts where she was trained in classical, opera, and jazz voice, as well as music theory, and is currently a Junior at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in music business. Has performed at numerous festivals, including Summerfest, CMJ, and Manifest, and has performed alongside acts like The Cool Kids, Peter Hadar, and The GTW. On July 1st, 2011, Lili released her first project, a four song EP entitled 'A Prelude To Hello,' with composer Peter Cottontale. The EP has gotten outstanding reviews from prominent online media outlets such as Ruby Hornet, Art Nouveau Mag, Soul Bounce, etc. She's a fresh face to the game with a modernly vintage sound; there is much more to come from this young soul singer.

Cavalier Kidd • • • Cavalier Kidd is a hip hop, rap artist from Chicago Illinois. Coming from the MindSpray Music Entertainment camp, Cavalier Kidd holds down a solid sound that can be described as mid-west rap. Smooth rhythms without giving up the hard and heavy nature of rap, is one way to describe this free flowing lyricist.

From sexually charged lyrics on 'Splash', and battles with his subconscious on 'Bi-Polar', to childhood reminiscing lyrics on '80's Babies', Cavalier Kidd can both appeal and intrigue many types of hip hop fans. There is no doubt about it, this is pure rap, but there is no denying old school hip hop influences can be heard in his songs. Aerias • • • If a revolver has 6 bulletsAerias is the 7th one. Born and raised in Chicago, he’s the last spitter in Chicago Tribe. From battle hardened emcee to aggressively passionate punk, he’ll do anything to rock a show. From live guitar solos to live acapellas and freestyles that are actually freestyles (cmon now).

He’ll steal hearts to make em stronger and he’ll yell things others wouldn’t even think of whispering. On his 2nd album, he wants to surpass his 1st album, “Running Blindfolded”, by being much much louder. Hungry, loud, random, spontaneous, weird, skilled, fiery and grinning at anything that doubts him, keep your ears and minds open and check the streets of the Chi, you’ll feel him sooner or later.
